Gregory B. Haber, MD

Dr. Haber is one of the world’s foremost experts in clinical care and education in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Haber has dedicated himself to the mentorship of the next generation of physicians in these techniques and technologies, having trained more than 50 advanced fellows. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Toronto, Dr. Haber completed his training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He subsequently received a Medical Research Council of Canada Grant to do postgraduate research in bile acid metabolism at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, in Bristol, England. He returned to the University of Toronto as a consultant at The Wellesley Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital where the Advanced Endoscopy Center for the University was established. He was appointed Chief of Gastroenterology at Lenox Hill Hospital from 2004 to 2016. He took his current position at NYU Langone Health on 2016. In 2018, Dr. Haber was honored with the title of Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology by NYU Langone Health. Dr. Haber has contributed over 100 scientific publications and over 200 abstracts, and has given nearly 400 presentations at educational seminars and conferences nationally and internationally. He frequently serves as a course director for educational conferences and in 2010 was the recipient of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy’s Master of Endoscopy Award. In 2025, he received the prestigious Rudolph Schindler Award, the highest honor conferred by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His areas of expertise include Advanced Resection with ESD, EMR, and Full Thickness Resection, and third space intervention with POEM for achalasia, gastroparesis, and Zenker’s. He has also had a lifelong commitment to pancreatico-biliary disease with ERCP and EUS interventions, including EUS access techniques and ablation.

Dr. Kumta is a recognized expert in advanced endoscopy, with a particular focus on third space endoscopy, endoscopic resection, complex therapeutic interventions, and pancreaticobiliary disease management. He is widely regarded for his leadership in clinical innovation, his commitment to advancing the field through research, and his dedication to training the next generation of gastroenterologists and advanced endoscopists. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he also pursued both Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy fellowship training. He subsequently joined the faculty at Mount Sinai, becoming a national leader in complex endoscopic procedures and serving in multiple educational and leadership roles supporting both general GI and advanced endoscopy fellows. In 2024, he was recruited to NYU Langone Health as Chief of Endoscopy at Tisch Hospital. Dr. Kumta has published extensively in therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic resection, and third space procedures, with more than 130 peer-reviewed publications, invited reviews, book chapters, and national guidelines. He is frequently invited to lecture at major national and international meetings, including hands-on training programs and live endoscopy courses. His contributions to education have been recognized with multiple teaching awards and national honors such as Medscape’s 25 Rising Stars in Medicine and Becker’s Healthcare Leaders Under 40. He serves on committees across national GI societies, sits on the Board of Trustees for the ASGE Foundation, and remains deeply committed to advancing endoscopic education at both the medical school and fellowship levels.

Lerice Crayton,

Lerice Crayton is an experienced Endoscopy Nurse Manager with more than a decade of progressive leadership in advanced GI and therapeutic endoscopy settings. She currently oversees operations at NYU Langone Health–Long Island, where she leads clinical workflow optimization, staff development, strategic planning, and practice innovation across the endoscopy service line. She is widely recognized for her ability to mentor emerging leaders, elevate staff competency, and build structured education pathways that enhance clinical readiness and unit performance. Lerice’s academic foundation includes a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership & Administration from Capella University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing, and an Associate of Science in Nursing from SUNY Delhi. She began her career at GastroCare Long Island, where she gained foundational experience as a charge nurse and quickly developed early leadership strengths. Her passion for advanced endoscopy deepened during her time at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she supported a high-volume pancreaticobiliary team. She joined NYU Langone Tisch Hospital in 2016 as a Staff Nurse in Endoscopy and progressed into successive leadership roles including Nurse Clinician, Night Shift Charge Nurse, and Assistant Nurse Manager before being appointed Nurse Manager of the Endoscopy Unit at NYU Langone Brooklyn in 2023 and subsequently Nurse Manager of the Endoscopy Unit at NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island in 2025. Her strong educational background and clinical experience directly support her commitment to evidence-based practice, staff development, and advancing the nursing role within complex GI therapeutics. Lerice served as a staff nurse during live cases at the Cedars-Sinai International Endoscopy Symposium and also live courses at NYSGE before becoming one of the course coordinators in 2021. She is responsible for creating a standardized Endoscopy Education and Orientation Program at NYU to support consistent onboarding and foundational training for new staff. Lerice developed comprehensive, interactive educational modules that include video demonstrations and practical explanations tailored for beginner endoscopy professionals. These tools have significantly strengthened training quality, competency-building, and cross-campus alignment. Most recently, Lerice played a key role in coordinating the First Annual NYU Cross-Campus Endoscopy Education Day. With a deep passion for innovation, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration, she continues to shape the evolution of endoscopy nursing and serves as a driving force behind the upcoming Third Space Mastery Nursing Conference.

Jessica Boney,

Jessica is an experienced endoscopy nursing leader who has contributed extensively to clinical innovation, quality improvement, and professional development across the NYU Langone Health system. She has played a pivotal role in the development of several systemwide initiatives, including the “Know More About Blakemore” and “Know Your Role” simulation programs; the creation of the Blakemore Kit and Simulation Lab at Bellevue Hospital; standardized shortened procedure documentation tools; and the 2023 Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy OR Resource Manual. From 2017 to 2022, she also participated in live courses with NYSGE and began helping facilitate the course in 2023. Most recently, she developed a comprehensive, standardized Endoscopy Education and Orientation Manual at NYU Suffolk to support consistent onboarding and foundational training for new staff and a Procedural Documentation Manual to streamline procedure documentation within the Endoscopy Unit. Jessica holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Mercy College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Molloy College. She is a Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) and is Nurse Executive Board Certified (NE-BC). Her leadership extends across multiple institutional committees, including the Remote Observation Audit Group, the NYU Langone Mentorship Program, the Clinical Staffing Committee, the Enterprise Peri-Procedural Collaborative Quality and Performance Improvement Council, and the Cross-Campus Endoscopy Practice Council. She also served as Chair of the Tisch Endoscopy Unit Practice Council from 2021–2023, guiding practice standards, staff engagement, and unit-based initiatives. Currently serving as the Endoscopy Nurse Manager at NYU Langone Health Hospital–Suffolk, Jessica oversees all aspects of unit operations, including staff management, patient flow optimization, regulatory compliance, equipment oversight, and quality improvement initiatives—most notably the implementation of Cadence appointment-based scheduling. Prior to this role, she spent six years as a Registered Nurse Clinician at NYU Langone, where she gained extensive expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP, EUS, POEM, ESD, and ICU bedside interventions. In addition to serving as morning charge nurse, she trained new staff, ensured adherence to safety and HIPAA standards, and cross-trained in Interventional Bronchoscopy, Pre-Op, and PACU care. Throughout her career, Jessica has remained deeply committed to advancing safe, efficient, and evidence-based endoscopy care while fostering a culture of teamwork, education, and clinical excellence.

Nadine is an experienced endoscopy nursing leader with over 18 years in healthcare, known for advancing operational efficiency, quality improvement, and patient-centered care. As an Endoscopy Nurse Manager, she oversees unit operations, staffing, patient flow, regulatory readiness, and key quality initiatives while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Finance from Binghamton University and a second Bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is currently pursuing an advanced nursing degree to further strengthen her clinical and leadership expertise. For the past decade, Nadine has helped facilitate NYSGE live courses, contributing to clinical education and professional development in the endoscopy community. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience in endoscopy and peri-procedural care, trained new staff, supported workflow and documentation improvements, and promoted consistent, evidence-based practice. Her commitment to excellence and strong leadership presence continues to elevate endoscopy care across the organization.
